Welcome back to another
issue and the end of another well-spent week in the quarries. Issue
75 already??? Wow! Isn't that the Geritol or Prune Juice anniversary
or something like that?
This week saw Degree work, an Official Visit,
and several officers and planning meetings in our District. Simply put,
it was good to see so many concentrating on the Work of Freemasonry.
On Monday, the Masters and Wardens will meet with some of the candidates
for Grand Lodge Officer positions as well as discuss their needs for
your Lodge's upcoming projects. Please be sure to let your Masters and
Wardens know how much you appreciate their taking the extra night out
to participate at these important meetings. If they look at you like
you have three heads and ask what you're talking about, please connect
Shoe A to Posterior B and remind them that no Lodge is an island, and
you need them to share and network with the other Lodges of the District.
Our calendar continues to expand, a testimony
to our groaning trestleboards. Please review it and make note of the
many District-wide events and celebrations coming up. Of special interest,
of course, are the two ORDMA Dances coming up as well as special Dinner
Dances being held by Wallkill, Naurashank, and Hoffman Lodges. Orange-Rockland
is becoming the place to be!
Our Grand Director of Ceremonies has also
added several dates for educational programs to our calendar and every
Lodge has received the new LSOME DVDs and booklets. Please be sure that
every new Brother coming in has a mentor and is receiving the Masonic
Development COurse (MDC) and LSOME program before and after each
Degree. It's that important. We'll see you next week!

DDGM and Staff Officer Applications
Applications for the positions of DDGM and Staff Officer (2008-2010)
are still being accepted for a few more days. I have extended the
deadline, but you must contact me immediately if you have an
application forthcoming. Applicants are expected to meet with the
Masters and Wardens on Monday October 8th and with the Selection Committee
on Tuesday October 23rd. If you have any questions, please contact
the DDGM.
Masters and Wardens Meeting
The Masters and Wardens will meet at Jerusalem Temple Lodge on Monday
October 8th at 7:30 p.m. It is important that all of our Masters and
Wardens attend. Please remember that these meetings and this newsletter
are the primary coordination and communication venues in this District
and each Lodge is responsible for the information disseminated therein
. If your Lodge is not represented, the officers are still responsible
for obtaining the information from other Lodges in attendance. Thus
attendance is expected of Masters and Wardens but everyone is welcome
to attend and we hope to see other elected and appointed officers
there!
Orange-Rockland Central Chapter, Order of DeMolay
Orange-Rockland Central Chapter will hold its next Installation of
Officers on Sunday October 29th at 2:00 p.m. at Wallkill Lodge in
Walden, NY. A luncheon will precede the ceremonies at 1:00 p.m. and
we expect our Grand Master to be in attendance. Delegations from
our Lodges would this be appreciated. DeMolay is a Masonic youth program
for boys ages 12-21, which teaches leadership within a fun, moral
framework in line with our own principles and tenets. The local Chapter,
which meets at Wallkill Lodge in Walden, is in desperate need of advisors,
Brothers willing to give up a few hours a month to mentor and work
with these inspiring young men. There’s no commitment required
to obtain information, give us a call and see what it’s all
about. For more information, please contact R:.W:.
Hank Stoveland.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS

problems. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers.
ON STRESS
Editors Note: I should state, for the record, that I absolutely
abhor these e-mails that everyone seems to circulate and in no
way condone the practice. That said, my wife sent me this one
yesterday and it hit home on a dreadful day at work. So, thanks
a bunch, honey, and never, ever send me this stuff at work again.
Love you!
A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience,
Raised a glass of water and asked "How heavy is this glass of
water?"
Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied,
"The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long you
try to hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.
If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.
In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it,
the heavier it becomes."
He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management.
If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the
burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."
"As with the glass of water, You have to put it down for a while
and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can
carry on with the burden."
"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down.
Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens
you're carrying now, Let them down for a moment if you can."
So, my friend, Put down anything that may be a burden to you
right now. Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a
while.
Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:
Accept that some days you're the pigeon, And some days you're
the statue.
Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have
to eat them.
Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in
the middle of it.
Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by
their maker.
If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it
was probably worth it.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply be kind to
others.
Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because
then you won't have a leg to stand on.
Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.
Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep
late.
The second mouse gets the cheese.
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you
live.
You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be
the world to one person.
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are
pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different
colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
